Akemashite Omedetou Gozaimasu! (Happy New Year!)

My hosting company ROCKS!

The company I have used for Sushicam all these years is HostRocket.Com Website Hosting. I have been more than happy with them and just yesterday I received an email offer to upgrade my account to unlimited monthly bandwidth. Needless to say I was happy to pay the $24.95 upgrade fee, so now I have all the bandwidth I will ever need to keep serving up content.

I think I will now start offering videos in both standard and High resolution so those that have a broadband connection (or a lot of time) can download much higher quality video clips.

If you are looking for hosting I would highly recommend you check out HostRocket. They are VERY reliable, quick in answering service tickets, and they offer a 5 GB storage plan with unlimited bandwidth for only $8.95 per month on a 24 month contract.

Over the New Years holiday I had another photo sale, although this one was a little bit different. Since I had already made plans to spend time with the in-laws I was unable to attend the sale. But the organizer told me that all I would have to do is set up the stuff at the start and then take it down at the end and they would do all the selling for me. Ifd have to be an idiot to turn down an offer like that. (Technically, according to my wife, I am an idiot, but I did not let that stop me from taking them up on their offer.) I made $850 and I was not even there. Youfve just gotta love it. I donft expect that to happen again though, so I count myself lucky this time.

Like most Holiday Season revelers one of my favorite New Years Eve pass times is to watch people knock each others teeth out.

Let me back up bit.

K-1 is an Ultimate Fighting Championship type event (similar to riding a crowded morning commuter train in Tokyo, but with less grab ass going on) that has gained a lot of popularity in Japan in recent years. Itfs basically a mixed martial arts fight where some holds are barred. You can kick, punch, knee, choke, or grapple your opponent. But the more nasty things like biting, using elbows, post-dating of checks, eye gouging, and playing grab ass are not allowed.

I guess someone did not fully explain these rules to a recant Japanese competitor since he used some rather unorthodox methods to win a fight.

Sadly, since the fight was between two relative unknown fighters (One American, the other Japanese) it was not broadcast along with the rest of the matches. But there is a still picture sequence to show what happened.

At the start of the match the two guys were standing toe to toe while the ref went over the rules with them. They both got a little overzealous in trying to psych out the other guy and ended up staring at each other with their foreheads actually touching.

In a moment of either pure inspiration or idiocy (I'll leave it to you, the reader to decide) the Japanese guy figured out a great way to totally freak out his opponent.

As they were glaring at each other, literally eyeball to eyeball what does the Japanese guy do?....

He KISSES the American square on the lips!

After a split second the American guy recovered and promptly blasted the Japanese guy with a punch that knocked him into next week. He hit his so hard that the Japanese guy had to get carried out of the ring on a back board.

But in getting his opponent to hit him before the fight started the Japanese guy was able to get his American opponent disqualified. I'm not sure if winning the fight was worth taking a shot like he did, but the Japanese guy did win.

Here is the sequence of pictures to better illustrate what happened. (Make sure to look at the look on the spectators faces and how it changes during each subsequent scene)

Actually, I don't think the Japanese guy intended to disqualify the American. I think he really thought it would be a good way to rattle his opponent.

I guess it worked, but not in the way he intended.

Seeing as it is a New Year, I have a couple of new ideas for Sushicam. Nothing is definite yet, but I plan to make some rather sweeping changes to the blogging model I currently operate under.

I'll still be offering up the same type of content as usual, but I also have some ideas on how to add even more fresh content on an even more frequent basis.

I'll wait till I have the idea a little better developed before I let the cat fully out of the bag, but let it suffice to say that I think it will be a definite improvement.
