Love hotel tragedy

4 June 2005

Right outside the front gate of Yokosuka navy base is a love hotel named Hotel Goddess.

Around 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning of last week a 19 year old Japanese girl lost here life there.

Details are still sketchy, but this is what has come out so far:

Around 8 a.m. the front desk clerk at the love hotel noticed a man leaving the hotel alone through an emergency exit. The clerk went to question the man, but the guy was unresponsive and fled the scene.

The clerk then went to check on the room and found the girl dead in the bathtub. The man who fled the scene was apprehended a few days later and tests on him and the girl showed that they had both been taking LSD (or some other sort of halucinogic drug) at the time. Supposedly the guy does not remember anything that happened.

Regardless of what happened, (suicide, accident, drug induced murder) it is very sad situation. One young girl dead and a young guys life ruined. Not to mention the two families along with all their friends...

Sad.

Very sad.

Todays photos were all taken up in Tokyo earlier in the day today.

I was further exercising my new Carl Zeiss 21mm f2.8 T* Distagon and I think the results more speak for themselves.

Zeiss glass is truly in a class of its own. The coatings tat the The coatings tat the eiss lenses use provides for unbelievable color and contrast.

On Monday I am taking a day off from work to go on a "Dynamic Tokyo Tour" being sponsored by Sony.

About a month back I read an add in the Japan Times that Sony was sponsoring a few free all-day bus tours in Tokyo. I threw my name in the hat and ended up getting selected.

Sony provides me with one of their newest digital cameras to shoot with and at the end of the day I give them feedback on what I thought about their camera.

I'll be shooting with the Sony DSC-P150. I hope they give me a HUGE memory stick to shoot with. I'm not sure if I will be able to get a copy of the photos I take, but I'm going to try.

I have already seen most of the places covered by the tour, but here are a few things that will be new for me.

I'm looking forward to it.

I just found out about a fresh Japan travel blog call The Cynical Traveller. Looks to be a very entertaining read. Check it out.
