Pass the beer

24 January 2005

Been very busy recently and I haven't had any time to go out and take any new photos so todays postings have all been pulled from my archives. Some are not so old whereas others were taken a couple of years ago.

I really can't wait until spring gets here. Granted the winters here in the Kanto Plain are very mild compared to what I grew up with. (Think of your average mild Thursday afternoon on the surface of Saturns moon Titan, and you get the picture of what Upper Michigan can be like in January)

Yet I still am waiting for spring.

Not so much for the warmer weather mind you, but more for better light.

I have always found it hard to work with the extremely harsh light found here during the winter. The brights are too bright, and the shadows are too dark and the colors just don't have the normal "snap" that I like. Everything is kind of washed out and overexposed.

I guess I could just focus on taking night shots in the winter...But each time I try and do that I find myself strangly drawn towards the closest drinking establishment and not a whole lot of photoghraphy takes place once a beer replaces the camera in my hand.

And speaking of drinking establishments, last week a friend of mine (Pete) sent me a warning about a new scam going on all over the world. It has always been out there, but recently sees to have gained momentum:

Warning!

Police are warning all men who frequent clubs, parties, and local pubs to be alert and stay cautious when offered a drink from any woman.

Many females use a date rape drug on the market called "Beer" to target unsuspecting men. The drug is generally found in liquid form and is now
available almost anywhere. It comes in bottles, cans, from taps, and in large "kegs." Beer is used by female sexual predators at parties and bars to
persuade their male victims to go home and have sex with them.

Typically, a woman needs only to persuade a guy to consume a few units of "Beer", and then simply ask him home for no-strings-attached sex.

Men are rendered helpless against this approach.

After several beers, men will often succumb to whatever desires the women has. After drinking Beer men often awaken with only hazy memories of exactly what happened to them the night before, often with just a vague feeling that something "bad" occurred.

In extreme cases these unfortunate men are swindled out of their life's savings and free time, in a familiar scam known as "a relationship." It has been reported that in extreme cases, the female may even be shrewd enough to entrap the unsuspecting male into a longer-term form of servitude and punishment commonly referred to as "marriage."

Apparently, men are much more susceptible to this scam after "Beer" is administered and sex is offered by the predatory females.

Please forward this warning to every male you know. If you fall victim to this insidious "Beer" and the predatory women administering it, there are male
support groups with venues in every town where you can discuss the details of your shocking encounter in an open and frank manner with similarly affected, like-minded guys.

For the support group nearest you, just look up "Golf Courses" in the yellow pages.

You have been warned. (Please extract tongue from cheek now...)

I am sure that similar warnings have been issued to women as well. Not that women would really need such a warning since they are much more observant and wary than men in similar situations. In fact, it has been scientifically proven that the average man has an IQ roughly equivelant to that of cabbage.

We may be dumb but we are happy. If ignorace truley is bliss I must be the happiest person on the planet. And by the way....pass the "Beer".

Usually I don't give an extra plug to my advertisers, but I feel I need to share this with all of you. If you ever order prints of your digital files, of want to sell prints of your own Exposure Manager looks like it is worth checking out. In addition to prints they also offer gift items as well and their prices are the lowest I have seen.

The print using the same equipment and materials as the services I currently use but their prices are appreciably lower. I have signed up for a trial account and will give it a spin to see how it works.
