Prints raffle winners

13 October 2004

Yes, I did say winners with an s. ^_^

Since my intention in having a prints raffle was to help cover the costs of the 3 hosting accounts it takes to keep Sushicam on the web I decided to only keep enough of the proceeds to cover my actual hosting/bandwidth costs.

Thus, based on the number of entries this month there will be three winners. 1st place gets 3 prints, 2nd place gets 2 prints, and 3rd place gets 1 print.

And the winners are....(Drum roll please!...)

1st Place: Marc B - 3 prints
2nd Place: Karyn W - 2 prints
3rd Place: David H - 1 print

Winners have your choice of either 8x10 or 8x12 prints in either Matte or Glossy finish. (I offer 8x10's because finding frames for 8x12's can be difficult at times...) I can also convert your photo picks into black and white if you like.

Please send me an email with your selection and current mailing address so I can get them off to you. If I don't receive your email before I go on vacation next Monday then you will have to wait until I return in the first week of November. If you would like to wait, or need some extra time in selecting your photos, them by all means take as much time as you need.

(A special thanks goes out to to Random.org, the site I used to generate the random numbers to pick this months winners)

Kind of a coincidence that the 1st Place winner turned out to be the first person to enter the raffle, but that is the way it turned out. Karma I guess. ^_^

I would like to thank each and every one of you that entered. Given the great turnout I can see this becoming a regular feature here at Sushicam. (Although due to my upcoming vacation to Michigan the next monthly prints raffle will not begin until I return in the beginning of November)

I appreciate all the support and I am sure all you winners will be very happy with your prints.

Had one hell of a strong typhoon this past weekend.

Usually they hit in Western Japan but this one rolled right directy over Yokosuka and Tokyo. Big trees knocked down, signs folded flat on the ground, flooded subways in Tokyo, it was a real soaker, and the rain is still falling.

It did manage to clear up a little on Sunday and Monday, enough for me to get to Kamakura to take some photos, but the predominant weather pattern has been a steady rain for what seems like going on two weeks now. I can't wait for the clear skies of winter...

All of todays photos were taken last Monday in Kamakura. While there I had the good fortune of happening upon quite an elaborate wedding taking place at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine.

As I was taking photos of the proceedings I kept getting funny looks from the wedding photographer covering he event.

Not that I was the only "tourist" taking photos, there were many people taking snapshots. But I was the only one in the crowd with a lens bigger than that of the wedding photograher.

"Lens envy" I guess...

I did make sure to stay out of his way though. He was there to do a job so I just slapped on my longest lens and stayed way back and behind him to make sure I did not interfere with any of his shots. Also, I did not use flash at all. (I try to avoid using a flash at all times since I prefer to use natural light)

I'd write more, but work has been running me pretty ragged as of late and I need to hit the hay a little early tonight since I have to get to the office at O'dark 30 tomorow to make sure I can get all my loose ends tied up before my vacation starts on Monday.

I'll be sure to update at least once more before I go on vacation so check back again on Saturday or Sunday and there will be one last update for the month of October for you.
